The food and catering industries have specific waste reduction requirements.... both on land and at sea.  Often metal cutlery and plates along with the usual plastic items, from airline and other sources are included with general catering waste... so a good, tough shredder is needed.  Models are available with special bulkhead separating walls and stainless steel labyrinth seals and bearings which protects the shredder from contaminates.  Stainless steel hoppers, cutting chambers and cutters are also available for food manufacturers.
